Huddersfield will be facing up against recently relegated Fulham FC on Saturday 14 August (15:00 KO).
This game is going to be a real test for the Huddersfield squad to see what they can do. Both Huddersfield and Fulham looked strong in their previous games. Meaning it’s going to be a true fight for the three points here.
Huddersfield previously played Derby, where the final score resulted in a 1-1 draw after a very close game. We saw a lot of good chances from both teams, but Huddersfield just couldn’t find the back of the net to get a win.
Overall, I think that this was a positive first game of the season and I think that Huddersfield should come out of this game on a positive note, which will hopefully give them a good boost for the game this weekend.
The last time that Huddersfield and Fulham played was back in February 2020, where after a very tight game, Fulham did manage to come away with the win. The final score was 3-2, so it was definitely a close one.
Huddersfield has got a week to prepare for possibly the hardest game of the season on paper for them.
Fulham FC
Fulham FC did drop from the Premier League last season after a great fight but they just didn’t get the right results through the season, meaning that they did come back down into the Championship.
They have fortunately kept quite a few of their players, which is normally a big problem when being relegated into a lower league, so it is vital that Fulham keep performing for these players to want to stay at the club and push to go back into the Premier League.
Fulham previously played against Middlesbrough, where the game resulted in a 1-1 draw. Middlesbrough did come out of the game here with it almost feeling like a win. Fulham had kept strong pressure for pretty much the whole of the match, this was until Boro managed to put one in the back of the net. After this, we saw a total change in gameplay, Middlesbrough became a different team and with some more time, I think that the result could have been very different.
What should Huddersfield take from this? In my opinion, Huddersfield needs to try and push for a goal to allow them to put heavy pressure onto Fulham and to take control of the game a little more. This isn’t a game where you are going to be able to sit back and defend as Fulham are just going to punish.
One player to watch is most definitely Harry Wilson. The newly transferred youngster has already made his mark at Fulham, scoring his debut goal against Middlesbrough at the weekend, so he is already raring to go. He is tricky around the box and his left foot is outstanding.
Prediction
This is going to be a hard game for Huddersfield,100%. Fulham has got Premier League players and game style, so coming away with a win is not going to be a walk in the park.
Both the Terriers and Fulham look good after their first games, it’s all going to be down to the day with what happens in this game.
