Where We Come From: Savvy's Journey from Huddersfield to Carriacou | African Descendants Forum
In this episode of the African Descendants Forum, host Edwin Baker sits down with Nigel Cudjoe AKA Savvy, a ...musician, producer, filmmaker and creative developer with over 15 years of work across music, film, digital art and technology.
"Where We Come From" started as a celebration of Savvy's dual heritage, tracing the line between his home in Huddersfield and his family's roots in Carriacou, Grenada. But the track was released the very day Hurricane Beryl devastated the island in July 2024 — and everything changed. What began as a song became a short film, a transatlantic collaboration, and a record of a community facing loss, resilience and rebuilding.
The short film "Where We Come From" is out now on YouTube, with the transatlantic remix releasing on 2 September via Saving Grace Music.
