In October, the Brighouse & Rastrick (B&R) Band Massed Bands concerts will recommence at Huddersfield Town Hall. The return of the massed bands comes after two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Unfortunately, the scheduled 75th Anniversary of the (B&R) traditional concerts was postponed. On 23 October, there will be a huge reunion event taking place. Former players from across the years will meet the current band on stage, planned to be a ‘huge musical extravaganza’.
Around 70 massed band players will fill the stage, which will be specially extended for the occasion. The event will be a spectacular return to the stage and is expected to ‘raise the roof’ with music that everyone knows.

Leading the performance will be two long-serving former B&R Musical Directors, Derek M. Broadbent (of Floral Dance fame) and David Hirst (now living in Worcestershire).
They will share the conducting role and have each chosen a set of popular music. Former players are already preparing for the event; they will soon travel from across the UK for the concert, even as far away as Cornwall!
The reunion concert is much anticipated as a memorable event for all. The evening is sure to be full of excitement, drops of emotion and anticipation as the grand reunion hits the stage for the first time in 2 years.
Tickets are now on sale from Kirklees Council on 01484 225755, online at www.kirkleestownhalls.co.uk or from Huddersfield Central Library.
