On Saturday 5th September 2020, from noon until midnight, members of Honley Male Voice Choir are holding a virtual fundraising ‘performathon’ to help raise money for the charities across the region.
The event, named ‘We Rise Again’ will see the Honley MVC present a variety of items from songs, talks, poetry and stories on Zoom, all streamed via YouTube with support from the local community.
The charities that the choir are raising money for are HEROES, Fairfield School in Batley, as well as their own charity initiative.
HEROES (Healthcare Extraordinary Response Organisation for Education and Support) is a charity founded by NHS workers, for NHS workers.
Their services cover the physical, mental and day-to-day needs of all NHS workers, from doctors and nurses to cleaners and porters.
Fairfield School, Batley provides a supportive environment for children and young people with complex physical and learning disabilities to learn and thrive.
Roger Wild, Vice Chairman of Honley Male Voice Choir, said: “Choir members will produce 12 hours of continuous entertainment to lift the spirits!
“This event is dedicated to all those NHS staff and key workers carrying out crucial roles along with our other two charities who are managing through this challenging time.”
All funds raised will be divided between the three charities in the following proportions:
- HEROES – 50%
- Fairfield School – 30%
- Honley Male Voice Choir – 20%
