A group of Huddersfield students have been selected to star in the hit Channel 4 show Ackley Bridge.
Six students from local All Saints Catholic College have been cast as regular extras in the latest series of Ackley Bridge.
The Halifax based drama has created links with the Huddersfield based school during its first season. Now the producers quickly returned while looking for students to appear as classmates in the show.
Head of drama Lindsey Rhodes said: “It’s very exciting for the students and there is definitely a real buzz around school, especially when it airs and they are recognised.
“It has done wonders for the students’ confidence, especially those who were really struggling with that. And it has brought them all closer together because they spent such a long time filming on set.
“It’s been great and we’re all so proud of them. I get emotional thinking about it.”
Those lucky enough to make the cut appeared as a rival school during a rugby match scene filmed in Halifax, or appear as extras in school assembly, class and canteen scenes.
Ackley Bridge has recently taken two prizes at the Royal Television Society Yorkshire Awards in 2019. The show has now run its course to its third series, winning more awards in Drama and Original Digital Content categories.
The show airs on Tuesdays on Channel 4 at 8 pm.
