By Nathan Findlay –
Huddersfield Town will be facing up against Blackburn Rovers tonight at the John Smiths Stadium (19:45KO).
Tonight’s match will be a challenging game as Huddersfield has gone slightly off the boil with their past couple of performances in the Championship. The team is now looking for a result to put them back on track, to help gain that confidence and momentum back.
Huddersfield Previously played Swansea City at the weekend, where they were defeated 1-0. This was always going to be a hard game for Huddersfield to win, with Swansea being such a strong side, but Huddersfield’s performance was just not good enough.
Swansea started the game just how they wanted it to and had total control, a goal from Piroe put them ahead in the 17th minute, and this was the only goal scored in the match.
From here, the game went quiet, with not much coming from either side. There were a few shots from Swansea but across the board, nothing.
Something which was disappointing was that Town didn’t manage to have one shot on goal in the whole game. For 90 minutes of football, this is just not acceptable. This is the second game this season so far in which they have not had a shot on target, and I think this needs to be worked on to ensure that they have more opportunities and create more chances around goal.
Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn is currently 6th in the table so far this season and are in good form. In their past five games, they are unbeaten, with two wins and three draws. This is a great form to be on, and it is clear from this that Blackburn is strong and will be a hard team to beat.
Blackburn played Cardiff at the weekend, where they destroyed them 5-1. This was the best result of the season for Blackburn and the momentum will undoubtedly be carrying into the game tonight – The Terriers will have to be prepared. This win is even better for Blackburn because Cardiff has the best away record in the Championship, so securing a 5-1 win shows Blackburn’s capability and form.
One player to watch for Blackburn is Ben Brereton; this player is a real stand out player this season with seven goals and the confidence to score more and a hat-trick in his previous game.
Prediction
This will be a tight game tonight with Huddersfield not being on their best form and Blackburn looking good.
Hopefully, Huddersfield will be able to look back at where the mistakes were made in their game against Swansea and cut them out in the game tonight. Blackburn will punish if Huddersfield makes mistakes…
