Hello everyone, today I’m taking a look at and giving my impressions on the upcoming game Pokémon Unite.
Pokémon Unite is an upcoming free-to-play, multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game developed by TiMi Studios and published by Tencent in partnership with The Pokémon Company for Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch. The game was announced by Nintendo during one of their Pokémon presents on June 24, 2020.
What is Pokemon Unite?

Pokémon Unite is an online multiplayer battle arena game in a similar manner to League of Legends. Matches in the game will consist of two teams, with each team having five players. The map is split into two sides for both teams, and there are multiple points that teams can gain control of over. Players will earn points by defeating AI pokemon and then moving to control points across the map to score.
Each match will have a time limit, and the team with the highest score by the end of the game wins. During the start of a game, you will have control over a low level, unevolved Pokémon. The Pokémon will increase in level and gain new moves as you defeat AI and opposing teams Pokémon. Unlike previous Pokémon games that focus on type, advantages are not present in Pokémon Unite. Instead, you will gain access to special ‘Unite moves’ for each Pokémon.
The game itself looks like a lot of fun. With the similarities between Pokémon Unite and other MOBA’s, players will know what to expect. However, shortly after the reveal, some fans did not agree with that opinion. The YouTube video announcement quickly became the most disliked video on the Pokémon company’s channel. One of the critical reasons for the fans’ attitude was the involvement of Chinese company mobile giant Tencent. Another reason was that the Nintendo had previously said they would announce a “big project” to which fans believed was a new main series game. After the announcement, many fans were disappointed because it was a spin-off game being released only on mobile devices.
Personally, I am looking forward to the release of this game. I have never played league of legends, but I think this game has potential. I imagine it will be prominent in the esports scene rather quickly, and it will be a good way for you to play pokemon with your friends.
