Huddersfield Town travel to the Bet365 Stadium to face Stoke City in the SkyBet Championship this Saturday 11th September. 3 pm Kick-Off.
After a big win against Reading F.C. and the international break giving players a chance to refresh and refocus, the Terriers will be looking to keep up their good form as the season restarts.
Last game
It’s been a couple of weeks since Huddersfield’s last game, so just in case you needed a bit of a refresher, the Terries last faced off against Reading, and I don’t think anyone expected a complete and utter rout from the home side.
The start of the first half was fairly quiet, with some good chances from Huddersfield. Then Lewis O’Brien managed to put one in the back of the net to give the Terriers the lead going into the break.
The second half was where we really saw Huddersfield put their foot on the gas.
Three more goals, including a stunning solo run from the recently crowned Championship player of the month Sorba Thomas, saw the Terriers put the game to bed and claim a well-deserved three points.
Stoke City
This weekend sees Huddersfield face off against Stoke City, who are right beside them in the table.
Only goal difference separates the two sides, but whereas Huddersfield have steadily improved week to week. Stoke’s most recent game saw them take a bit of a stumble, losing handily to Fulham. The Terriers would be remiss not to take advantage of the situation.
Huddersfield last played Stoke back in January 2021 where the game finished a stale 1-1.
The Terriers managed to get a nice early goal but just couldn’t hold on for the win.
Stoke converted a penalty in the 24th minute, and despite a smattering of chances and a red card at halftime, there was little else of note.
The Potters have looked decent in their games so far this season and I certainly don’t think that they are going to be an easy team to beat.
They have a good set of players and have kept pretty much all of their team from last season.
One player to watch for Stoke is Joe Allen, this is another player that is in the squad week in week out and never had his off games.
He is tricky on the ball and is a player that can cause problems if he is given room to play with.
Prediction
With both of these teams having put on some good performances so far this season, it is going to be hard to predict who I think is going to take home the points in this game.
Huddersfield had a strong win just before the international break putting them in a nice position to rest up and then progress into the next game week this weekend.
Looking into the statistics and how both of the teams are performing I am going to predict…
