Huddersfield BID has commissioned street performers to create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere every Saturday this July.
Dubbed ‘Super Saturday’, the aim of the scheme is to help support local talent as well as bringing popular artists to Huddersfield.
MarkMark Productions are one such group and will be back this month, alongside additional local acts, and events.
Events in June
There are also plans for larger group events this June.
From 11:00 am on the 19th of June, the BID team are inviting residents to visit the high street dressed in their best 1940s – 1960s outfits, to enjoy the music by Natasha Harper, and have a little dance outside Merrie England and BonMarché.

Shoppers will encounter a wide array of performers including comedy sketches and musical acts
Then, on the 26th of June, an event with support from Huddersfield Live and Kirklees Council will take place, featuring a children’s book reading of ‘Toby’s Time Machine’ by the children’s entertainer, Isaac Whittaker-Dakin.
There will also be a book signing by a local children’s writer Megan Woodward.
‘Thriving’
Speaking on the plans for the next couple of months, Sophie Patel, Huddersfield BID’s Marketing and Projects Executive, said: “I have been in the town centre every Saturday and it has been fantastic to see the town thriving again and great to hear shoppers say they can’t wait to come back.”
