This June, Parent Sanctuary has organised a set of walks for parents with young babies, toddlers and preschoolers.
Who is Parent Sanctuary?
Parent Sanctuary is a social enterprise that aims to support the health and wellbeing of parents in Kirklees and surrounding areas.
They organise meetings so parents can meet Parent Sanctuary with their young babies, toddlers and preschoolers. It gives the youngsters a chance to meet new friends, see different areas of Kirklees and get some gentle exercise in the fresh air.
They also provide workshops in schools and support with crying, colic and allergies.
Walk with Parent Sanctuary
There are two walks organised for the coming month and are varied in length. Some walks are pram friendly whereas others are only suitable for walking children or slings.
They also have a stock of slings and baby carriers to try on your walk or hire for four weeks at a time.
The following two walks take place on 11 June and 18 June. Parent Sanctuary has teamed up with Jo Cox Foundation for the walk on Friday, 11 June. Friday’s walk is in Cleckheaton and will visit the Jo Cox Memorial Wood.
Guest speakers from The Jo Cox Foundation and Spen Valley Civic Society will also attend.
The walk on 18 June will visit Stanedge Tunnel. The walking group will walk along the canal, a chance to explore and even try to skim stones in the river. This walk is part of the Great Get Together weekend.
How to get involved
To join the walks will cost £1 for the first walk and £6 for the following.
The walks encourage times to bond with your child, allows them to explore, learn and develop fine and gross motor skills.
The walks encourage language development and an understanding of self in the world. The walk will also have a child-friendly meditation to help parents find a moment of calm.
