The Honley Male Voice Choir has said they are “delighted” to have received an award of £3,000 from the Match It! funding programme for 2021 to help keep the organisation going during the pandemic.
The funding, provided by One Community foundation in Kirklees, will help the choir with the necessary costs that have allowed them to continue operation during these unprecedented times.
The Match It! is One Community’s new fund that matches the fundraising efforts of a given organisation over a three month period, essentially doubling the money raised.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the local community, Honley Male Voice Choir were able to raise nearly £4,000 in donations between 1 November 2020 to 31 January 2021.
Speaking on the funding award, Chris Flanagan, Fundraising Officer for Honley Male Voice Choir, said: “We are delighted to receive this generous award from One Community’s Match It! funding programme.
“Like many not-for-profit organisations, we are experiencing a severe impact on our usual income streams due to the current Covid-19 crisis.
“In order to keep the choir together, we are still employing our musical professionals who are working tirelessly to allow us to carry on rehearsing virtually and maintaining the fellowship of the choir.
“The award was contingent on the choir raising matched funds, which thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, £3,719 was raised through online donations between 1 November 2020 to 31 January 2021.”
Chris added that the award will enable the choir to continue to focus on providing support to both members and supporters as we all navigate through this challenging and difficult time.
It will allow the choir to achieve a COVID-19 secure environment when they return to live rehearsals as well as consider new and innovative ways of performing in the future.
“Please continue to stay safe and take great care of yourselves and your loved ones. We are in this together and we will get through this together.”
