Huddersfield Town will be facing up against Reading FC on Saturday, 28 August (15:00 KO). I think that this will be another great game of football and one that is going to be very tight.
Huddersfield previously played Everton in the Carabao Cup, where they, unfortunately, lost 2-1, despite a great performance from the team.
Huddersfield has got a few players out with injuries or match bans, meaning that the squad is changing and the team keeps on adapting to it. This is obviously something that Huddersfield won’t want to be doing all season, and hopefully, we see players start to return so the chemistry of the team can be brought back up.
The last time that Huddersfield and Reading matched up was in the final game of the 20/21 season. This was probably one of Huddersfield’s more entertaining games, with the game playing out to be a true rollercoaster ride.
The game started well for Huddersfield with them pushing forward in a strong manor and this paid off well for the Terriers with an early goal coming from Koroma’s free kick in the 15th minute. Reading then pushed forward in their attack and received a questionable penalty which was put away by Olise.
Reading then took all of the momentum and managed to find the back of the net for the second time, with a great header coming from Yakou only 10 minutes later. After this, the game stayed very dry with nothing really going on, just a few shots coming from both sides. Fortunately for Huddersfield, in the 93rd minute, a great little goal from Rarmani Edmonds-Green. Brought the Terriers 2-2 and a great way to finish off the season.
Reading
Reading had an unfortunate season last time due to them missing out on the play-offs by one position. It was their last few games that let them down, four draws and a loss. All they would have had to do was win a couple more and they would have been able to compete.
Now moving onto this season, we have seen Reading not on the best start they possibly could have been. They have had three losses and one win, but I’m sure they will look and turn the performance around sooner rather than later.
Reading has a strong team and with a lot of the Huddersfield Town players being out, this will be a challenging game.
One player to watch for Reading is John Swift, and this midfielder has already got himself three goals so far this season and two assists, making him the highest goal involved player in the Championship in the season so far. He is excellent at controlling the team from the middle and he is certainly going to be a player to look out for.
Prediction
There is no easy game in the Championship, so it is always hard to predict what the game’s result will turn out to be. Reading has not had the best start to the season and I think they are going to look and turn this around and try to improve on what they have done so far.
Huddersfield has had a decent start with the last two Championship games, really giving The Terriers much needed momentum to get themselves going.
But unfortunately for The Terriers, they have a handful of players unavailable, leaving them at a disadvantage. Town has got their home support at the weekend, and I’m sure this will play a massive part in the team spirit and morale.
