Marsden Jazz Festival is a yearly event celebrating cutting-edge and traditional jazz. The festival was established back in 1992 and is one of the UK’s longest-running jazz festivals. Unfortunately, last year the Marsden Jazz Festival was cancelled for the first time since 1992 and, for a time, it was uncertain if it would return in 2021.
However, last week, the Marsden Jazz festival announced the success of its crowdfunding campaign. The campaign was launched back in July and over the month £15,994 was donated by 257 donors with a bonus of £3,414.50 pledged through GiftAid, amounting to a total of £18,358.50. The donations surpassed the team’s most optimistic expectations.
The Marsden Jazz Festival got by the tough year of 2020 with financial support from Arts Council England and the DCMS Cultural Recovery Fund. Over the coming months, the festival team continues to plan this year’s event, currently pencilled in for 8 – 10 October.
In a comment to KLTV, Barney Stevenson, Artistic Director of Marsden Jazz Festival said, “We were absolutely blown away by raising 59% more than our minimum £10,000 target in our Help Bring Marsden Jazz Festival back in 2021 crowdfunding campaign.
