New Street will once again become a bustling marketplace this October as up to 50 specialist traders from around the world set up stalls for four days of food and festivities.
Similar to years prior, the event will offer visitors to the high street the opportunity to enjoy international flavours and the chance to shop the unique arts and crafts.
The market will run from Thursday 7 to Saturday 9 October from 9 am – 5 pm and Sunday 10 October 10 am – 4 pm.
Stalls will include fresh hot street food from a selection of different countries from across Europe and beyond including France, Spain, Germany, Morocco, India, Lithuania, and Thailand.
There will be a range of ready to eat sweet treats made fresh to order as well as unusual burgers such as Boar and Kangaroo, and an onsite bar will be serving a selection of regional beers.
In addition to the food and drink, stalls selling a selection of Fair-Trade flavoured coffee beans, arts, crafts, and jewellery will be in attendance.
The last time the market took place was in 2019, as plans for the 2020 market were unfortunately put on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic.
‘Unique Dimension’
Councillor Will Simpson, Cabinet Member for Culture and Greener Kirklees said, “It’s great to see the fabulous International Market returning to Huddersfield for the fourth time.
“The wide selection of incredible food, drink and gifts that will be available from the variety of countries will complement the existing markets and town centre offer and will no doubt add a unique dimension for shoppers heading into town at the weekend.”
