Welcome to Raising Eyebrows on Ashbrow
Raising eyebrows on Ashbrow (REoA) brings the latest news and views from the Ashbrow ward to the residents of the Kirklees. REoA aims to champion young people’s voices, inform residents of activities across the Ashbrow ward, and provide a platform for community activists, social commentators, social enterprises and local organisations to showcase their achievements in the community.
REoA promotes community cohesion by sharing the rich cultural history of the ward, notable historical landmarks, and local businesses that bring valuable support to the ward and its communities.

The Ashbrow Community Coalition Ten Point Plan was discussed in-depth and agreed upon with the Ashbrow Youth Panel, Ashbrow Youth Network, community activists, voluntary sector organisations, and social enterprises operating the Ashbrow Ward.
The Ten Point Plan represents YOUR vision for the future of the Ashbrow Ward, and the Community Coalition wants to hear from YOU.

Get to Know Ashbrow Ward
Ashbrow is one of the most ethnically diverse wards in Kirklees where the White British population accounts for more than half the population.
The rest of the population comprises a diverse mix of ethnic groups, including Pakistani (9%), Caribbean (7%), Mixed White-Caribbean (5%), Indian (5%), White Other (3%) and African (3%).
It contains 50 listed buildings that are recorded in the National Heritage List for England.
There are some amazing local business and initiatives that aim to help and support residents such as:
- The Chestnut Centre – A local resource initiative that offers services for parents, children and young people to support them and help them learn and develop.
- Huddersfield Deanery Project – Based in Bradley, the Huddersfield Deanery Project for Older People works to further the practical, social and spiritual well-being of older people of any or no religious background.
- Local Services 2 You – A Social Enterprise and group of community businesses creating success, delivering excellent services and generating opportunities for local people in Deighton, Ashbrow and Huddersfield.
- Bradley Youth Community Centre – The building can be used for a range of events, with rooms suitable for meetings, functions and family celebrations.
