Victory for the Terriers!
After a neck and neck game in the Carabao Cup, Huddersfield Town managed to get the win through penalties.
Huddersfield had a great performance throughout the duration of this game and I think that this game has set up The Terriers mentally for the start of the season.
The game overall was pretty even, Huddersfield did look like the more dangerous team and the stats from this game do back this up. The Terriers had a total of 15 shots compared to Sheffield’s 5.
These stats didn’t matter as the game went to penalties, where Huddersfield then managed to put the goals away and come home with the win.
The first Huddersfield goal in the penalty shoot-out came from ex-Sheffield Wednesday player, Jordan Rhodes. This player not only got his goal in the penalty shoot-out but seemed strong for the last 10 minutes of the match. This also could have been a tactical play from Carlos to make sure that he had a strong penalty taker on the field in case they did go to penalties – if so, then this substation did pay off.
Post Match Thoughts
Overall I think that this was a strong performance from Huddersfield. It would have been nice to see Huddersfield win the game outright, but never the less Huddersfield still got the win.
The Huddersfield lineup also looked very strong and in-game. The team seemed to have great chemistry with one another.
The first game of the season
Huddersfield will now have a week to prepare for their first game of the Championship season, which will be played against Derby County on 7 August (15:00 KO)
Both Huddersfield and Derby are two very close teams and both have their strong aspects so, this will be most definitely a great first game of the season for both teams here.
Hopefully, Huddersfield will get the win and start off this game on the correct foot.
