This week’s film is KA-NAYITI
KA-NAYITI is a movie about Child abuse and Domestic Violence that is unfortunately faced by many societies.
After the sudden demise of their mother, Silivia seeks refuge with her elder sister, Shida, hoping for both familial support and assistance with her education. Eager to finish her secondary school studies, Silivia’s optimism rests on Shida’s shoulders, trusting that her sister’s position as a school teacher will open doors for her. However, Silivia’s aspirations are swiftly overshadowed by Shida’s tumultuous personal life.
As Silivia immerses herself in Shida’s household, she becomes entangled in a web of domestic complexities. Shida’s husband, Sirika, proves to be an obstacle rather than a facilitator, refusing to aid Silivia financially or academically. Struggling to navigate Sirika’s suspicions and controlling behaviour, Silivia finds herself accused of illicit affairs and subjected to unwarranted surveillance, even from her own son, Silas, whom Sirika manipulates into spying on her.
Amidst the turmoil, Silivia discovers she is pregnant, but instead of finding solace and support from Sirika, she faces further rejection. As tensions escalate within the household, Silivia must summon her inner strength to confront the challenges imposed upon her by familial bonds and societal expectations. Will she break free from the shadows cast by her siblings, or will she succumb to the darkness of their dysfunction?
