After an unexpected break for the Huddersfield Giants, they faced the Salford Red Devils at the John Smith’s Stadium, but despite the efforts coming from Huddersfield, it was not enough.
Ultimately, there was very little in it from either team, with the game finishing 8-9 in favour of Salford. Chris Atkins brought the extra point needed to put Salford ahead in the 62’ minute with a drop goal.
The game was noticeably quiet, with neither team really trying to make that push over the line and get a try.
This was disappointing from Huddersfield, as the Giants really should be putting in a better performance against Salford and on paper, this should have been a relatively comfortable win for them.
Unfortunately, it appears as though the outbreak of Covid-19 cases at the club ended up having an adverse effect on the team.
After this game, Huddersfield are in 9th place in the Betfred Super League.

Post-Match Thoughts
From my perspective, this was a very disappointing result for the Giants and I do feel like they should have performed better against the Red Devils.
If the manager is to be believed, there were some questionable refereeing decisions that may have impacted the result, but this should have been a game with a much higher scoreline for Huddersfield.
Regardless, this will not be a game for the history books for either team, and the Giants must instead look forward to the next match.
Next Game
Huddersfield will be next playing Hull FC on Friday the 25th of June.
This is a very winnable game for the Giants and I think that with some good training this week and determination this is going to be a great chance for Huddersfield to redeem themselves and get themselves back into their rhythm. Hopefully, we will see an improvement and a better result.
