Kirklees’ Covid-19 infection rate has fallen across the borough, however, hospital admissions and deaths have remained at a similar rate.
COVID-19 infections have dropped by 17 per cent over the past week, in line with the national trends.
However, the region has also seen an increase in hospital admissions, and deaths as a result of the virus have remained the same.
With the majority of restrictions lifted, people in Kirklees are being encouraged to be kind and do all they can to keep one another safe, particularly those most vulnerable.
Cases and Hospitalisations
311 people per 100,000 in Kirklees tested positive for COVID-19 over the last 7 days, which is a decrease of 17 per. However, the infection rates are now above the national average, which is 275 people per 100,000.
There were 46 people admitted to local hospitals over the last week, an increase from 38 people last week, and there have been two more COVID-19 related deaths in the same period
Kirklees Council is continuing PCR surge testing and increased testing offers to identify and limit any potential cases of variants.

Vaccinations
In Kirklees, 280,000 residents have had their first dose of the vaccine, and 240,000 of those have received their second.
Anyone over the age of 18 can now book their Covid-19 vaccination.
Pop-up vaccination clinics are continuing to open across Kirklees alongside the regular vaccination sites.

National Figures
There have been 183,406 confirmed positive cases nationwide in the last seven days, decreasing from the previous week’s cases.
In the last seven days, there have been 86 COVID-19 related deaths within 28 days of a positive test.
Nationally so far, 46,926,330 people have had their first dose of the vaccine, with 38,874,837 people receiving their second dose.
