Don’t miss out on a great opportunity next week to join PACE project’s free Events & Event Management Course. The course is open to all young people in Kirklees aged 16 to 25 and will be hosted in Huddersfield Literature Festival Hub at Huddersfield’s the Piazza.
The course runs throughout the week from the 4 to 8 of April, 10am to 3pm each day.
The taster course will give you an insight into the practical skills needed to put on events from professionals from the film, music and book industries, including Michelle Hodgson and Michelle Brown, Festival Director and Digital Manager of the Huddersfield Literature Festival.
Others involved in the course includes Treva Etienne, actor and filmmaker, who will be joining via a video link from LA. Jonny Slow from the renowned Huddersfield venue, The Parish, will host a tour of Venn Street Social and The Parish, Jonny, along with event manager Mikey, have extensive experience running venues and organising events and will host a Q&A session.
James Dove, founder of ClimateEQ, will share his top tips on how to ensure music festivals and other events can be more eco-friendly. Additionally, Birkby-based Radio Sangam will be involved in the course too. Qaisar, the Director of Sangam Festival, will provide a tour of the Radio Sangam studios and answer and queries about organising and promoting large-scale music and other events.
Event Management Course Schedule:
Monday 4 Apil
10am to 12pm – Introduction, ice-breaker and an overview of the nuts and bolts of Event Management, with course leader Michelle Hodgson.
12pm to 1pm – Lunch
1pm to 2:30pm – Talk with James Dove, founder of ClimateEQ, on environmental practices in event organisation.
2:30pm to 3pm – Recap & Questions
Tuesday 5 April
10am to 11am – Essential lessons in event management with course leader Michelle Hodgson who has 12 years’ experience in publishing and 10 years’ experience running the Huddersfield Literature Festival.
11am to 12:30pm – Michelle Brown, the Digital Manager for the Huddersfield Literature Festival, will share her experiences of setting up and managing online events.
12:30pm to 1pm – Lunch Break
1:30pm to 2:30pm – Hollywood actor Treva Etienne will join the course via Zoom to talk about his experience of event management in the film and TV industries in the UK and US.
2:30pm to 3pm – Recap of the day, questions
Wednesday 6 April
10am to 11pm – Chat with Noah Burton from Small Seeds and Sam Hodgson from Northern Quarter about the upcoming Onwards Festival.
11am to 2pm – Tour of Venn Street Social and the Parish and Q&A session with Jonny Slow. Lunch provided.
2pm to 3pm – Recap & Questions
Thursday 7 April
10am to 11am – Event marketing, with course leader Michelle Hodgson.
11am to 12:30pm – Speaker TBC, possibly with a background in theatre.
1:30pm to 3pm – Lunch Break
1:30pm to 3pm – Tour around Radio Sangam Studios in Birkby, followed by a talk and Q&A with Qaisar Mahmood, CEO of Radio Sangam and Festival Director of Sangam Festival.
Friday 8 April
10:30am to 12pm – Progression session with arts organisers
12pm to 1pm -Lunch Break
1pm to 3pm – Final session, with questions and feedback.
