The band is back for Kirklees’ Festival of Remembrance and will be accompanied by two of the winners of the Mrs Sunderland Competition; the Halifax Young Singers and Rastrick High School Junior Choir, and the Songs of Praise Junior Choir of the year Huddersfield’s very own Lindley Junior School Choir.
With hits from West End blockbusters “Wicked” and “Les Miserables” and the Scots Dragoon Guards Pipes association playing Highland Cathedral even those with limited knowledge of the classical genre are sure to find something they recognise on offer.
The band will also be playing Benedictus from The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins, which was premiered in 2000, climbed into the classical FM hall of fame and remains the nation’s favourite piece of contemporary music.
There will also be a bit of Latin flavour courtesy of Alfred Reed’s fiery El Camino Real. This music is based on generations of Spanish flamenco guitarists, whose fiery style and brilliant playing have captivated millions of music lovers throughout the world.
In addition to music there will be Laser and Light special effects courtesy of Switch Entertainment and a Black Light Drum Display.
The evening promises to be emotionally charged and superbly entertaining, an most of all a fitting tribute to the Nations Armed Forces.
Money raised from the concert will fittingly go to the Mayor’s Charity The Royal British Legion.

Mayor of Kirklees, Cllr Jim Dodds said: 
“Remembrance Sunday is a time when the public are focused on not only those brave men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice but also those who still bear the physical and mental scars because of their service for us and our country.
We owe a great debt to them all and can never forget the sacrifice that they have all made on our behalf. These were not Super Humans, but ordinary men and women like us, who had dreams of tomorrow and hope for a happy future.
It is a sad fact that today there are 9000 ex-service personnel living rough in Great Britain, which is why I have chosen the Royal British Legion for my Charity. They need £1.6m every week, to look after the growing number of ex-service personnel and their families needing our help. They have fought our wars; we must now fight their battles.”
There are many ways to support the mayor’s charity including buying a special charity calendar.
The Mayor’s Charity Calendar – entitled “Yorkshires Finest” honours of all those who have died in the service of our Country. Including the last six soldiers from Kirklees who were killed on active service in Afghanistan. The Calendar has the full support of their families.
The costs of producing the calendar have been covered by donations from local businesses in Kirklees.
The Calendars cost just £5 and all money raised will go direct to the Royal British Legion, who have said that the money raised will be spent in Kirklees.
The calendars are available from all Town Halls , Libraries and Royal British Legion Branches.
