The parents of Yassar Yaqub have sent a third letter to 10 Downing Street demanding justice for their son.
Mohammed Yaqub and wide Sofia delivered the letter this Saturday during a march by the United Family and Friends Campaign. The UFFC is made up of friends and relatives of those killed by, or in custody of, the police who hope to gain justice for their loved ones.
His father and mother believe that he was killed unlawfully and have been campaigning since his death on January 2, 2017.
Yassar Yaqub from Crosland Moor was killed at the age of 28 after he was shot dead by West Yorkshire police following a swoop on the slip road of the M62. The driver, Moshin Amin, was jailed for conspiring with him to end another’s life on the day of the incident.
Mohammed, who recently has been suffering from heart problems after three heart attacks, attended the march in a wheelchair and addressed the campaigners at Whitehall on Sunday.
He said:
“It went well. I did most of my march in a wheelchair. I can’t walk too far because I get breathless.
“You could see how everyone there was demonstrating because they had loved ones killed.
“Their view is the same. They all follow everything that has happened with Yassar’s case. They all believe it was an unlawful killing.
“We will never give up fighting.”
