Huddersfield Town’s annual charity bike ride, Pedal for Pounds, has raised over £33,000 for four local charities.
Now in its 11th year, the event took place over three days in April and saw 85 cyclists travel from Huddersfield to Cardiff.
The route covered 240 miles and took in some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, including the Peak District, Derbyshire, and Gloucestershire.
The cyclists were supported by a team of volunteers, who provided food, water, and medical assistance along the way. They were also cheered on by supporters at various points along the route.
The money raised from Pedal for Pounds 11 will go to four local charities:
- The Yorkshire Air Ambulance
- The Huddersfield Town Foundation
- Ruddi’s Retreat
- The Andy’s Man Club
‘Fantastic Ride’
Club Ambassador Andy Booth said: “It’s been another fantastic ride, but very tough to say the least! It must be up there with one of the hardest rides we’ve done out of the twelve.
“One of my highlights of the ride was gathering all the cyclists together on Thursday night for Town legend Iain Dunn’s quiz night, we were also joined by special guest Darren Bullock and I’m sure anyone who was there will agree it was a night full of laughs with those two!
“I would like to say a huge thank you to all the support team who volunteer their time every year to make the event the success it has been over the past 14 years.”
Huddersfield Town would like to thank all of the sponsors and supporters who made Pedal for Pounds 11 possible. You can still donate to the event by clicking here.
In addition to the money raised, the event also helped to raise awareness of the four charities involved. The cyclists were able to talk to people about the work that the charities do and encourage them to support them.
