Carers Rights Day is an annual event organised by Carers UK. This year’s theme is ‘Missing out? Know your rights as a carer’.
The day brings organisations across the UK together to help carers understand their rights, and find out how to get the help and support they are entitled to.
Carers Count, which is funded by Kirklees Council, is holding the informal session on Friday 25 November, 11am to 3pm, at Carers Count, 8 Upperhead Row, Huddersfield.
The session is an opportunity for carers to talk to staff and other professionals including Carers Trust, Ridley & Hall Solicitors and Kirklees Council’s Care Navigation Team about things that are important to them, in a relaxed environment, with a hot drink and some homemade cake.
Every year, more than two million people take on a new caring role. For those people, it can be hard to work out what services and entitlements are available to them.
Even those who have been caring for years sometimes aren’t aware of all their rights.
Carers Rights Day is about getting carers the information and advice they need to access practical support and find out how technology can help reduce pressure on them.
The day also raises awareness of the needs of carers. Having the right information at the right time can make a huge difference when you are looking after someone.
