For the past few years, a consortium of like-minded individuals from across the creative sectors in Kirklees, have been coming together to help breathe new life into Huddersfield’s Heritage.
The Huddersfield High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) is part of a wider national scheme funded by the government and delivered by Historic England, that aims to regenerate town centres that have seen a decline in footfall or otherwise fallen on hard times.
The project has seen some of the best and brightest creative minds from organisations such as Proper Job Theatre Co, Huddersfield Local History Society, Chol Theatre, and Kirklees Council, come together to host amazing events, fuel social and economic growth, and improve the livelihood of local residents.
Recently, A special event was held to celebrate the various accomplishments of the Huddersfield HSHAZ team and their partners. Speakers from organisations that worked with them over the last year told how impactful and enriching the Heritage Action Zone scheme has been for Huddersfield, and how important it is for it to continue and grow.
As part of the celebration, KLTV produced a showreel of some of the key events and projects that have taken place over the past three years.
KLTV has worked with the Huddersfield HSHAZ team to fully film and document the living history that these projects have produced, and we are grateful to share them with our audience.
A special thanks to Proper Job Theatre Co. for lending an excerpt from the film of their project ‘The Town That Bought Itself’
A huge thanks to all the organisations and individuals on the HSHAZ team for their support.
